Entry and voting forms available at the Quad-City Times front counter weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Photo entries will be accepted March 26 – April 13 at noon. All photos must be submitted by 12:00 p.m (noon). on Friday, April 13, 2012 via mail or. All Entry fees are to be submitted online via the contest url (www.qctimes.com/petidol) or mail in the entry form with your entry fee. Please allow additional delivery time to receive your submission prior to the deadline if mailing in entry fee and form. Complete the entry form and mail with a recent photo along with a $10 entry fee to the Quad-City Times’ Newspaper in Education (NIE) program, Attn: NIE Pet Idol, 500 E 3rd Street, Davenport IA 52801 or drop off at the Quad-City Times front counter weekdays between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Entries can be made by cash, check, money order or debit/credit card. Please make checks payable to NIE. All photos will be published in a special tabloid section on Sunday, April 15. B/W or color photos accepted. Photos will be published with pet’s name. Photos must be at least 3x5. All photos must be of high quality (240 res.) Pet owner’s name and phone number must be included with all entries as well as written on the back of each photo.
Submitting this information serves as a release for the Quad-City Times to use your pet’s name and photo in the Quad-City Times, both in print and online. Copyrighted photos must be accompanied by a photographer’s release. Only one entry per pet, multiple pets may be submitted in the same photo. Entries with incomplete or illegible information will not be accepted. All entries become the property of the Quad-City Times and absolutely no photos will be returned.
VOTING
The contest will consist of 3 rounds with the third round announcing the top three pets. All contestants will be included in the first round. Each consecutive round will eliminate one-half of the remaining contestants. Lowest number of votes will be eliminated until the final round. The top 3 contestants receiving the most votes in the final round will be announced winners.
Beginning April 16, anyone can vote for a favorite pet with a 25-cent donation to NIE or at no charge (one free entry via mail per day per person). Each 25-cent donation counts as one vote. Each person can send cash, check, money order or complete debit/credit card information with the voting form. Votes are purcahased and submitted online at www.qctimes.com/petidol with a debit/credit card and a minimum donation of $10.00 (40 votes).
If you choose not to donate to NIE, you may submit an original voting ballot form found in the Quad-City Times, stop in the office where voting ballots will be available or download the online voting form and submit via mail or drop off at our office. Each original voting ballot counts as one vote. One free vote per form; one form per person per day. Photo copies will not be accepted. TIES WILL BE DETERMINED BY RANDOM DRAWING

PRIZES
Winners will be awarded all prizes in gift cards and goods. Gift cards are not eligible to be redeemed for cash. It is the sole discretion of the issuer of gift card to whether it is to be used all in one purchase or multiple purchases. NIE has no authority in the use of gift cards awarded for said contest. o1st place (highest number of votes resulting from round 3) - $325 in gift cards and prizes, ($25 Petmart gift card, $75 Aquatic Environments gift card, $75 Bed Bath and Buscuits gift card, $150 PetSmart gift card) o2nd place will receive $150 in gift cards ($25 Petmart gift card, $75 Aquatic Environments gift card, $50 PetSmart gift card) o3rd place will receive $125 in gift cards ($25 Petmart gift card, $75 Aquatic Environments gift card, $25 Paula’s Parlor gift card)
Quad-City Times and Lee Enterprise employees and their family members may enter a photo of their pet to publish in the tabloid, but are not eligible to win. All proceeds from the Pick of the Liter contest will benefit the Newspapers in Education (NIE) program. You must be 13 years of age or older at time of entry to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
Winners will be notified by email. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If Quad-City Times cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided.
Only one registered account per voter. If multiple accounts are detected for a single voter, they will be disabled and votes disqualified.
Quad-City Times reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
Quad-City Times reserves the right to restrict the local winners to only persons whose primary residence is within a 60 mile radius of the affiliate's' office.
Employees of Quad-City Times, its respective parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising sponsors and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
Entrants further grant to Quad-City Times the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
Quad-City Times reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.
The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, and/or Quad-City Times. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.
UPICKEM and Quad-City Times are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.
All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification.
Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.
This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
Quad-City Times reserves the right to change the rules at any time.
